Amanda's Got This, Hailey

Release Date: 9/17/2016

Blurb: Book three in the Hailey series is back full force, bringing you Hunt and Amanda from the Hunter’s Find series!

Vacationing at Parker’s Colorado home was nice, but unfortunately couldn’t last forever. Alexis once again needs their help. Someone is after her father’s business, even if it means eliminating her to get it.

Donny is forced to take out an unidentified assailant, which brings in Hunter and Amanda from the FBI, searching for answers. Parker is less than thrilled to have his toes stepped on by the feds, but agrees to partner with them for Alexis’ sake.

Donny’s brother, Tyler, and his crew are called in to help. Both to protect Alexis from the unknown as well as the one man who they think may be more involved than they want to admit.  Hailey pays a hefty price on the gamble, searching for answers to keep Alexis from having to leave life as she knows it, and go permanently into their protective custody.

Teaser: I heard a knock at the front door. “Who could that be?” I asked. “That’s not Kevin’s knock.”

Parker put me down inside as we watched Donny go over to the door. After a quick peek through the small window on the side, he opened it up to a man and woman. The man was built like a brick shit-house, and wearing a dark suit. His hair was cropped short, military looking. The woman with him was in a dress suit, her hair pulled back into a tight ponytail. I caught a glimpse of light reflect off a tiny piercing above her lip.

“Is that a gun in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?” Donny said to the woman. I assumed with that banter, he knew them.

The woman held up a badge. “Donald Cummings?”

“You too? That’s my name. What a coinky-dink.”

The man walked in without being invited. “I have a feeling this is going to be a really long night.” He held up his badge. “Hunter Blaine, FBI. This is my partner, Amanda.”

Parker and I approached in a hurry. I couldn’t even fathom what the FBI would be doing here.

Donny continued with his jaskassery. “Who’d you blow to get such a hot partner?”

The man who introduced himself as Hunter grabbed Donny by the shirt and slammed him into the pantry. “That’s my wife, asshole. If you want to keep this up, I have a set of cuffs with your name all over them.”

Parker reached them in a hurry and quickly got his hands between the two men struggling. “Whoa! Excuse my friend Donny here. Computer geeks have an odd sense of humor. This is my house. I’m—”

“Parker Peters. Yeah, we know,” Amanda said. “Let the guy go, you oaf.”

“That’s ‘love-of-your-life oaf’ to you, missy.”

Not replying, she squared off on Parker. “Parker Peters. Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.”

He grinned. “I thought that was Tony Stark–Iron Man.” Turning to me he said, “Hear that, babe? She called me genius.”

I don’t know how Parker and Donny did it, but two FBI agents in our beach house did not put me in a joking mood. The tequila wasn’t helping. I didn’t say anything.

Amanda continued. “No known alias. Parents both killed in a plane crash. Until recently, it was believed an accident.”

“Hold on. Just what the fuck is going on here? Kevin put you up to this?”

Hunter pulled out a notebook. “Kevin Mitchell. Your wife’s brother. Incarcerated for aggravated assault until his early release. Reasons unknown.” He flipped the notebook closed and squared off on Donny. “Except we do know, don’t we, Donald?”

Not willing to back down or show an inch of fear, Donny stepped forward, getting nose to nose with him. “Prove it.”

Now it was Amanda’s turn to get between the men. “Knock it off, Hunt.”

Parker put himself between Amanda and Donny. It was like a terrible game of musical tough guy. “Are you done with your roll call of my people yet? You mind telling me what you’re doing here?”

“Relax, Spiderman. We’re not after you and your band of misfits.” She faced Donny again. “Although someone back at the main office would love a look at Maryann.”

“Over my dead body.”

“I can arrange that,” Hunt said with no expression whatsoever.
