Nope. I’m not in the middle of writer’s block. I just like this. Of course I want to make all these great mugs years after I sold my mug press. I suppose it can go on a T.

I’m actually going strong on a new WIP (work in progress). I had such great responses from my suspense & thrillers that I’m going that route again. It’s not named yet & as usual I have no clue where it’s going, but thankfully my characters do. It’s rolling along & giving me great laughs as well as some “Shut the front door! That’s who you are?” Yes, I’m always the last to know.

It’s nice having the distraction of writing something new. The weather has been less than splendid lately and slipping me into a “meh” mood. Spending my days catching up on things online & the daily find-a-new-place-to-pimp-your-books takes its toll. New characters are almost as good as a new pair of shoes!

Cinderella & Dorothy have proven that a new pair of shoes can change your life. Maybe this novel will be the one to get me in book stores & change mine. Like how I did that? It’s ALL about shoes, baby!

I just know I could write faster in these! *want*

I have been wanting one of these babies for years but they were always too expensive. I finally got brave and started looking again & found one at a great price & free shipping! cha ching!

It was love at 1st sweep. I can’t believe the difference in my house. We have 2 dogs & a cat in the house and even though I keep everyone shaved, the hair was ridiculous.

Oddly, although we expected her shredded in minutes, no one pays her any attention. The dogs just get up and move out of her way and the cat gives her dirty looks from her roost on a chair.

Hubby was cracking me up from the moment the box showed up. He was like a kid getting a toy in the mail. For a few days I received posts about where she got stuck, something that happened and then my personal favorite. Her vomit.

Just what I wanted. Another pet in the house. :/ LOL

Of course she’s a “she”. What man actually vacuums?

The Disgruntled Employee

Straight out of college with my fancy new English degree I took an administrative assistant job with a start-up executive recruitment firm. I, uh, learned a lot. The biggest takeaway from the experience is that my personality doesn’t mesh well with salesperson types.

Sometimes, the guys I did support work for seemed to forget we all graduated from the same university. That alone should imply a certain level of intelligence on my part, you know? I kept that office running smoother than grease on glass because I’m a) intuitive, b) organized, and c) tolerant of jackassery.

The truth is to do an administrative assistant (or office manager, for that matter) job well, a person has to have as many arms as an octopus. If such physiological superiority isn’t possible, then the assistant needs to at least have a big brain and the ability to hold his or her tongue.

I was regularly made responsible for things I had no training to do. It was “Holley, I need X by noon” and I’d be all “Um…”  Then I’d skulk off and do it. It was job, and I didn’t have much choice unless I wanted to do phone sales. (No thanks.)

My character Ellen in my upcoming Musa erotic romance  Executive Decision has a bit of my past in her, but she is far more tolerant. That may be due in part to the fact she’s alone for most of the day. She works for a guy who’s basically oblivious to the day-to-day management of his two-person company. Carl goes into his office each morning, closes the door, and then hits the phones until lunch. After the lunch, he retreats into his hidey-hole again and doesn’t come out until five.

Photocopier on the fritz? Ellen fixes it. Coffee gone all cold? Ellen nukes it. Last night’s date harassing him? Ellen diverts her. Bill checks haven’t been cut? Ellen writes them. And balances the books. And cleans the bathroom.

Ellen is a Jill-of-All-Trades, and she has to be to do her job well. It doesn’t matter she has a master’s degree in urban planning. To some folks, she’s just a secretary.

Thanks for having me here, June. I’m Sara Daniel. I write contemporary romance fiction—irresistible romance with captivating family drama. Not only do I aim to entertain, I also want to give people hope and a belief that everything can and will turn out happily ever after. So, I really hope my readers have that wonderful, warm fuzzy feeling and come away a little less cynical about the world around them.

I am so excited to write for the Wiccan Haus series with Musa Publishing. This is my first foray into a paranormal world, and I am loving it. All the world building has been figured out for me. “How did you hurt your knee?” Holly asked.

More than that, it proved there was still hope for them. “So you conceivably could have still been under the effects of anesthesia.”

“I wasn’t.”

“But you were on pain medication for sure.”

“Don’t make excuses for me. I was an ass. I broke up with you, and you deserve better.”

For if he thought finding Laura alone along some deserted roadside in the middle of the night was strange, then he had no idea that what was about to follow would challenge the very boundaries of everything he’d ever known.

Excerpt:

The road was long and black before him, stretching out into the night. He hated these rural roads with no street lights, no homes, nothing but blackness pressing in around him. He strained to see the lines in the road, swallowed as they were by a heavy black haze.

But the rain had stopped now, and the wipers screeched in complaint as rubber drew across the dry windshield. He turned them off. The remaining water formed rivulets that ran together, making their way slowly up the glass.

At times like these, he wished he had gotten the radio fixed. He reached for the dial as though it would work this time, but all he got was a faint popping sound and some static. He turned it off and leaned back into his seat. “Damn.”

His annoyance wasn’t so much at the dead radio as at himself. He should have started sooner. He’d had one—no, two—drinks for the road. Now, here he was with two more hours of driving ahead and already it was well past midnight. He couldn’t refuse a free drink, though. After all, he was retiring next week, and this was the last time he’d have to make a trip like this—all the way out here, into the middle of nowhere, holding the hand of one more client.

He drew his hand across his face as if to pull the weariness from his mind. Straining against the darkness, he thought he saw something in the headlights, a movement perhaps, maybe a reflection. He slowed down, staring out into the blackness. It was then that he saw her, standing on the side of the road. She turned toward him, staring into the headlights. He pulled up next to her.
